What is Colordle?
Colordle is a free daily color-name guessing game created by Ryan Tanenholz. Each day a new mystery color is revealed, and players must guess its exact name. The game scores each guess based on how visually similar your color is to the target using RGB values.
How is Colordle different from Wordle?
While Wordle uses five-letter words and letter-position feedback, Colordle uses color names. Instead of green/yellow/gray tiles, you get a similarity percentage score that tells you how close your guessed color is to the mystery color on the color spectrum.
How do I get a high score in Colordle?
Start with broad color families — try 'Red' or 'Blue' first to establish direction. Use the similarity percentage to judge warmth, darkness, and hue. Work progressively from general to specific: Red → Crimson → Scarlet → Cherry Red. Knowing paint and CSS color names gives you a huge advantage.

What does the similarity percentage mean?
The similarity score is calculated using the RGB (Red, Green, Blue) color distance formula. 100% means an exact match. 90%+ means you're very close — possibly the same color family with a slightly different shade. Lower percentages indicate larger color differences.
How often does Colordle update?
The official Colordle game updates with a brand new color every day at midnight. This answer guide is updated daily to match, giving you timely hints and the full answer with an in-depth color explanation.
Can I play Colordle more than once a day?
The official daily game is once per day. However, you can use our Play Unlimited mode here on this site to practice with random colors from our full database of 200+ named colors — as many rounds as you like!
Why is knowing color names important for Colordle?
Colordle specifically tests your knowledge of color names, not just your visual perception. There are hundreds of distinct named colors — from Ecru and Vermilion to Gunmetal and Wisteria. The more color names you know, the faster you can zero in on the exact answer.
Are the answers on this site spoilers?
Yes — the answers are hidden behind a 'Reveal' button for this reason. Hints are shown first to help you without fully spoiling it. You're in control of when you want to see the answer!
Is this the official Colordle site?
No. This is an independent fan site that provides daily hints, answers, and guides. The official game is at colordle.ryantanen.com — we always link to the official game and credit its creator.
